William "Bill" Miret
February 2, 2010

William Francis “Bill” Miret, sixty four, died February 2, 2010. He passed over surrounded by loving family and friends, following surgical complications associated with a third battle against cancer. Bill was born in Lynn, MA on May 8, 1945, raised in Revere's Point of Pines, attended school at Immaculate Conception and then Northeastern University. He was a thirty seven year employee of Delta Airlines rising through the ranks to his current position of Duty Director, OCC. When on duty he oversaw the global operation of Delta Airlines.
Mr. Miret was preceded in death by his father, Francis W. Miret and his dear brother-in-law, Jerry Bopp. He is survived by his loving and beloved wife, George Ann (Bopp) Miret of Atlanta, GA; his mother, Genevieve (Driscoll) Miret; brother, Paul Miret and his wife Karen Miret of Port St. Lucie, FL; sister's-in-law, Patricia (Kennedy) Bopp of Davie, FL, Kathy (Bopp) Parramore of Tallahassee, FL; brother-in-law, Kevin Bopp of Sandford, FL. He also leaves behind three nieces, four nephews, two grandnieces, and three grandnephews. Sadly, he also leaves behind his chosen extended family of friends and associates, too numerous to count, along with Godchildren and a plethora of children who considered him their favorite "Uncle B." His Delta family also mourns his loss. He was larger than life, put the "Grand" in "Grand Entrance" and filled every room he entered with his joy for living. We grieve for those who never knew him.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Catholic Church of St. Gabriel at 10:00 AM with Father Michael McWhorter officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital or to Piedmont Hospital of Atlanta in special appreciation of the doctors who provided excellent care; Dr. Karen Harris-Moore, Dr. Donald Filip, Dr. Fred Schwaibold, Dr. Saeid Khansarina, and Dr. Booker T. Dalton/Dr. Preston Stewart.

Condolences

I am so lost for words at this time. I was out of town when I received word of Bill's passing. I met Bill sixteen years ago when I was working through a temporary service at Delta. As we build a repore, he would say you're going to be my boss one day. I recently shared a email with Bill and told him that he was my biggest "cheerleader" when I was begining my career with Delta. I will truly, truly miss him. My God be with you. Emily Bridges Emily Bridges on 2/4/2010 at 5:41 PM

Bill was one of the most positive, uplifting people I ever had the chance to be around. Thank you for sharing him with us, George Ann, all these years. My lasting memory of Bill has to be when, in 1978 along with a couple of other folks from BOS Department 120, Bill helped Debbie and I get the furnishings from our apartment in Reading into the Ryder truck in preparation for our move to Atlanta. I can see him, as clear as day, down on the lawn getting ready to "catch" the sleep sofa that we were carefully lowering from the upstairs window. Keep all your good memories closely at hand, George Ann, and Godspeed to you, Bill. Rest peacefully. Matt Fronzak Debbie and Matt Fronzak on 2/5/2010 at 5:52 PM

Dearest George Ann, My heart is deeply full of sadness. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Bill. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. I know this is a very difficult time for you and I will pray that God gives you strength each and every moment of your life. I will always remember Bill's humor and how he made everyone who knew him a better person, but most of all it is the love you had for each other that most of us can only wish for. I guess God needed another angel I know that his smile is shining down upon us. Remember George Ann, it is the memories that keep us alive, because they never die. Be Blessed. George Ann, I have great memories of Bill. He was a great guy and a great friend. I had a bad accident in 1999 and was in the hospital for some time. When I came home, Bill was the first one to call me. I will miss conversing and trading emails with him. My deepest sympathy. Mike English on 2/6/2010 at 8:57 AM

George Ann, So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have so many wonderful memories of Billy. The birthday party "chip-ins"; a washing machine for Sue, a trip to Florida for Marie, and of course a toilet-paper roll of Filene's basement dollars for Wayne. Billy could start a party...just by walking in the door. We'll treasure the memories and the happiness that you both brought to so many. Jim and Marie (Shea) Harris on 2/6/2010 at 11:33 AM

George Ann, There are no words to express our sincere sympathy to you and the family that Bill leaves behind. I went to school with Bill and remember him as always being the life of the party; with a smile on each and every day at school. George Ann,please accept my deepest sympathy. Bill had a way of llighting up a room with his smile. Those of us IC grads were fortunate to meet again last august. We talked about old times and our families. Bill's face was shining when he spoke of you. We shared old and then most recent memories, you have all the in between. Again my thoughts and prayers are with you as we all share our grief. In sadness Phyllis Hurrell phyllis solaqua hurrell on 2/6/2010 at 10:21 PM
